I downloaded Kindle version.Images and tables are so small that that cannot be read at all. I tried to read and enlarge but was not successful. Customer service could not help too. I later found the same book on Books.google.com that was more clear and also cost less.

GREAT Origami Kit!

I have half-heartedly dabbled in Origami several times, although all of those times were on long US Air flights as I tried to fold well-worn bills on the tray table as instructed in the airline's magazine.

This book screamed at me to buy it because the projects were so unique and being retired from the military, I appreciated the fact that they brought back memories of my faded glory.

First off, there are TEN projects in this book, not FIFTEEN as declared in the written description. The product photo clearly shows this. Not a big deal to me. Each of the 10 projects are worth the book price to me.

Second, the "Practice Currency" is an awesome touch, as the fake money is only printed on the front side. The fold will clearly let you keep track of which side of the bill is which. That's one if the reasons I never got serious with Origami - every fold was confusing as I stared at a confusing jumble of green designs at increasingly weird angles. It used to be like folding cooked spaghetti, now I practice and become confident in my folds because of the practice paper. There's about 100+ pieces included.

Third, deduct $1 from the purchase price - that cool little Stealth Fighter you see in the upper right hand corner of the book? - it's a real dollar. They did this by placing the book and practice paper in a little fold open "book" like how Lifesavers candy used to make those Christmas books where upon opening it, the sides had 5 rolls of candy in them each. The Stealth Fighter is tucked into an unused area. Pretty crafty. I thought that was also a very cool aspect.

Last, the book is extremely well presented - clear diagrams, and an initial chapter on the symbols and folds used for each project.

Anyone who loves Ansel Adams and his photography will find this is a special book. Printed for his 100th birthday, the quality of the reproduced photographs is truly amazing. It's really the only art book of his you need in your library because it shows off his work so brilliantly! I have looked at this book too many times to count and still get joy from it.

None are better than the Supernatural

For the record, I am an absolute, unapologetic, died-in-the-wool Supernatural fan. And I mean FAN! I have all the DVD's for Seasons 1-10. I have several books about Supernatural (most of which I have bought here at Amazon.com). None are better than the Supernatural: The Official Companion books. I have each book from Season 1 to Season 7. They provide a succinct synopsis of each episode along with insights from the actors (not just the two very excellent stars, Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles) but even from many of the actors whether in continuing roles or those who appeared for a few or just one episode). There are comments from the various directors, the show's originator, Eric Kripke, the various writers. There are sidebars describing how certain episodes came into being, the difficulties encountered and resolved in filming the many episodes, and some of the mythologies encompassed in Supernatural (and the embellishments given to them by the show's writers). I have waited for Seasons 8, 9 and 10, but they have yet to appear. It may be that there will be no more of these Episode guides but I have read and re-read Seasons 1-7 many times. The books are well worth the price for rabid Supernatural fans like me who want to know everything and anything about this remarkable television series.

SUPERNATURAL - GRAVE DISCOVERIES

For fans of SUPERNATURAL, this series of Official Companion books is exactly what it claims to be: an excellent partner to the shows themselves, sharing with the reader the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the making of this addictive TV show. This fourth volume follows the same formula as the previous three: a synopsis and discussion of every episode, a generous helping of color photos featuring the cast, plenty of black and white photos spread throughout the book, essays on the various monsters that populate the season, discussions about the show's crew, and chapters on the season's main characters (featuring comments by the actors who played them.)

This book is fun to read and author Nicholas Knight does a very good job of bringing context and depth to the material included. It's worth noting that these books do not shy away from the cast, creators, or crew taking a critical view of their work as well as sometimes praising it, which helps to add dimension to the experience of discovering what makes this show tick. You will also find a complete cast listing for every episode.

One word of caution: don't read this book until you've seen the shows. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the fifth volume in the series. The journey of Sam and Dean Winchester continues to be a fascinating one to follow and this book adds additional layers to the paths they traverse. Enjoy!

This book is awesome. I wished I could of found a new one but this version was in good shape. Looks of unknown facts and a personal insight to the story. Over all great experience but it would of been nice if the product had been sent a little more secure through the mail.

Great Little Primer for Load Dispatchers

Part of my job with a large midwestern power company is to train load dispatchers. I'm constantly on the lookout for good material. Power System Operations by Miller is one of the best textbooks I've found to train non-degreed system operators. I used the first edition myself when I was a new load dispatcher, and I found it to be a great self-study guide.
One problem with the latest (third) edition, there are no answers provided for the questions at the end of the chapter. This is no problem if the book is used in a classroom as the instructor should be able to figure them out. But for self-study it is absolutely necessary for the publisher to provide the answers to the chapter tests. Also, there are a few typos in the chapter on reactive power that could be very misleading to students who are already struggling.
The book concentrates mainly on transmission but the first four chapters are useful for distribution dispatchers as well. They provide a good foundation for teaching system overview, AC fundamentals and reactive power. The chapters on protective relaying, while still giving a basic overview of the various schemes, are a bit dated because they don't cover some of the latest microprocessor-based relays that have been replacing the electro-mechanical ones over the past several years.
This is not the be-all and end-all for training system operators, but when combined with on-the-job training and other supplementary material it can help establish a solid training program.

A little outdated as far as power line electronic monitoring these days but it is updated in the 1990's. Good book for understanding power transmission for people applying for power plant jobs!

This is a really great book.

This is a great book. If you want to learn about the power grid just for fun then this book is for you. However, this was written in the 80's (I think) and power engineering has changed quite a bit. If you are trying to get into the profession, this will give you an overview without going too deep so that you understand what you are reading when you dive into more modern, complex power engineering books. You will not learn modern power engineering from just this book. Overall A very good read. I read the import version, because the domestic version costs a lot more. My hunch is that they are nearly identical, and it's so dated anyway, that the more economical import version will serve your need.

In this fourth volume of the graphic-novel adaptations of Ann M. Martin’s Baby-Sitters Club books, Claudia and her older sister, Janine, must deal with the changes in their grandmother, Mimi, after she suffers a severe stroke. Creative Claudia doesn’t get good grades in school the way her sister does, and she feels that her family values studious Janine more. However, Claudia doesn’t notice that Janine isn’t too happy when she keeps volunteering to do everything to help Mimi after their grandmother comes home from the hospital to recuperate and relearn how to speak. Meanwhile, the Baby-Sitters Club’s new summer playgroup takes up lots of Claudia’s spare time, and she tries to help her regular club charge, who feels jealous about all the attention his baby sister gets. Telgemeier’s expressive black-and-white art plays a key role in the story here, as much of the interplay between Claudia and Janine is unspoken but clearly shown in their expressions and body language. My 7 year old daughter loves these graphic novel books! She is very excited each time a new one has come out. She is incredibly sad this is the last one Raina Telgemeier is doing. She has read all of her books and really enjoyed them all. We were having a heard time getting her excited about reading until we discovered these books along with her Sister series. We hope she will reconsider and turn more of the baby sitter books into graphic novels.

Best Book Ever!!!!!

This book had me up all night. I read it to my boyfriend hoping he would do some of these things to me:) Everyone deserves to be treated to such a great book. If your looking for very descriptive and sexual book that keeps your attention I suggest buying this book. I heard this is a sequel to the first book (A Neighborly Affair)by Peter Mack, which I've just purchased as well.
